BEACH BARS

Ella Kimberly | Caffè Oliva

Some like to vacation at the beach, while others prefer to go to a big city. Thanks to its location at the bustling downtown Ohio Street Beach, Caffè Oliva offers the best of both worlds.

With private cabanas that can fit up to 25 people and live music on the weekends, Caffè Oliva has an island resort-like atmosphere, albeit one where some of the world's tallest buildings are practically within reach. The restaurant's menu has a heavy Mediterranean influence thanks to dishes like chicken souvlaki, fried calamari and a hummus and pita platter. But there are also classic beach eats like fish tacos and key lime pie, and a lengthy list of specialty cocktails, craft beer and wines.

Caffè Oliva takes its name from the adjacent Milton Lee Olive Park, a 61-acre peninsula beloved for its spectacular views of Chicago's skyline. Whether you're looking for a quick bite or drink while jogging or biking the Lakefront Trail, heading towards Navy Pier or throwing a beach party for the night, Caffè Oliva has something for you.
